The Cycle of Prayer

Matthew 6:5-13 & Matthew 7:7-11 by John Willoughby

This month, I’m going to teach you how you can capture the greatest supernatural resource in our universe – the power of God!

In His first recorded sermon, Jesus explained what prayer is and how it works. Jesus said…

  • Prayer is a personal conversation with your Heavenly Father.

Prayer is not some public spectacle designed to call attention to your self. It is quietly sharing with your Heavenly Father.

  • Prayer is more about the quality than the quantity of your words.

Prayer is not about you notifying God that you have needs. God knows everything. Prayer is about grooming a relationship with God!

  • There are five P's in prayer.

The Cycle of Prayer

Step One: God allows needs to invade your life.

Step Two: God waits on you to ask Him to supply your needs.

Step Three: God answers your prayers.

How does God answer your prayers?

  • God answers your prayers with a yes, no or not yet.

The Point

Prayer is a cycle that begins and ends with God. First, God allows needs to invade your life. Next, God waits on you to ask Him to meet your needs. Finally, God answers your prayers with a yes, no or not yet.
