Jesus' Christmas Choice
Luke 2:1-20 by John Willoughby

According to Luke...

  • The first Christmas was exhausing.

At twenty miles a day, it would have taken Joseph and Mary four long days to get to a town they didn’t want to travel to in the first place.

  • The first Christmas was frustrating.

After traveling for four long days, Joseph and Mary can’t find any lodging in the small village of Bethlehem.

  • The first Christmas was noisy.

They fell asleep together as Jesus slept close to them in a make shift crib, but they didn’t sleep very long because a bunch of excited shepherds woke them up!

Why did Jesus choose to be a baby in a manger?

  • Jesus came to earth so He could die for mankind’s sins.

Some 2,000 years ago, God the Father asked His Son to give up His throne in Heaven to be born as a baby in a manger so He could grow up and die on a cross for mankind’s sins. And Jesus said, “I’ll do it.
