Four main distractions (loves) that keep people from worshiping God:

1. The love of Self.

Loving your self distracts you from worshiping God – the One you were created for (Colossians 1:15-16).

2. The love of Sin.

The Bible says God is holy and desires His worshipers to be holy (Titus 2:11-15). You cannot love sin and love God (I John 5:3)!

3. The love of Stuff.

It’s not wrong to own a house, car, boat or motorcycle. But, it is wrong to love things more than God and His purposes (Matthew 6:19-33)!

4. The love of Service.

Don’t get so busy serving others that you forget about the One who wants and deserves to be worshipped by you (Luke 10:38-42).

The Point

Distractions are loves – loves that Satan uses to get you sidetracked from loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Matthew 22:36-37). These distracting loves need to be dealt with before you can worship God.
