Small Groups
What is a Small Group?
A small group is typically made up of six to twelve people who meet regularly during the week to share about their lives, support one another, and study biblical truths. Each group has a leader. Groups meet in a number of different locations around Alameda, including coffee shops, the church, but typically they meet in homes. Most groups meet weekly during evening hours, but some meet bi-weekly, and some meet in the morning or afternoon. Our goal is to accommodate the different needs of those in our church by offering a variety of options.
We have a variety of small groups. Bible Study groups require a high level of commitment. Workbooks are used and expected to be completed before each meeting. Affinity groups meet generally around a common theme or activity. BFCC's Adult Ministries (GRILL, GIRLTALK, ADULT SINGLES and YOUNG at HEART) fall under this category and normally meet once monthly. Service groups meet to do a particular community project. Some groups meet regularly and others are seasonal. Equipping groups meet periodically throughout the year and provide specific training.
Why should I attend a Small Group?
Small groups at Bay Farm Community Church exist to help you grow up to full maturity in your relationship with God and others. You may be doing well in your Christian walk right now, but by being in relationship with fellow believers, you will experience even more of the abundant life Jesus has to offer. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. If you are ready to connect with other people, belong to something life-changing, and grow in Christ through relationships with other believers, then maybe it's time to get involved in a small group!
What do Small Groups do?
This can vary from group to group, but most groups have a time of fellowship, prayer, Bible or book study, discussion, and life application. Not all groups study the same thing. Some read and study books about Christian living, and others study books of the Bible.
How do I find a Small Group?
Look through our listing to the left and find a group or two that suit your schedule and interests, then call the church or e-mail the host leader to get more information about the group. Post cards about the groups are also available each Sunday on the Main Street tables in the courtyard of the church. After you get directions and details, just show up and check it out! Hopefully, you’ll feel right at home with the first group you visit, but you may want to visit several groups before you find the group that's right for you. If you feel a little nervous or unsure, just stick with it - you'll be happy you did!
