Summer in the Psalms

Summer in the Psalms

We’re going to spend this summer in the Book of Psalms. The Book of Psalms was written by several people who lived from the time of Moses to Israel’s Babylonian captivity. (That’s a period of about 1,000 years.) Psalms is the largest and most diverse book in the Bible. It is made up of five sections or mini-books filled with prayers, hymns, confessions, creation songs, and stories about Israel’s history.

Everything in Psalms is focused on one action – worship. Whether the writer is looking back at history, looking around at his enemies and problems, or looking up into the heavens, he assures us God is worthy of our worship because of who He is, what He has done, and what He will do. His greatness and goodness extends through all time and eternity.

As we study the Psalms this summer, I believe you will see that God desires to have a personal relationship with you, and He is both willing and able to meet all your needs.
