I AM

The Gospel of John is different than the other Gospels.  Instead of recording the life of Christ chronologically as the Synoptic Gospels do, John uses select events, discourses, and metaphors to prove that Jesus is God in the flesh sent to die for humanity’s sins.  John’s Gospel has distinct content and style, is both simple and profound, and has the clearest purpose statement in the Bible.  In 20:31, John states, “These are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.”

The fourth Gospel revolves around seven miracles and seven “I AM” declarations made by Christ.  Through these seven miracles and seven declarations, Jesus powerfully proclaims His deity and shows us that He is willing and able to supply everything we need in this life and the next.

This spring, we are going to examine Jesus’ seven “I Am” statements from the Gospel of John to further our understanding of how Jesus perfectly meets our needs.  I invite you to join me as we learn about the great I AM!
