The Ripple Effect of Gratitude
Serving our kids with thankful hearts

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Hello, November! Bring on the thankful hearts, stretchy pants, and all the reminders to count our blessings. 😊

This month, we’re also kicking off our brand-new curriculum! There’s a lot to learn as we get going, but one of the best things we can teach our kids won’t come from a lesson plan. It’s letting them see what a thankful heart looks like in real life.

And Sunday mornings give us plenty of opportunities to practice. Lol.

The supplies we know we set out have disappeared. The technology has decided to take the morning off. And we’re pretty sure the kids had frosting for breakfast.

Yep. We’ve been there.

But right in the middle of all that, we get to pause and remember: We get to help these kids know Jesus. We get to welcome them, learn their names, listen to their stories, and remind them that they are loved. What a gift!

Paul tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. That doesn’t mean we have to be excited about every hiccup. But even when the morning isn’t going according to plan, there’s still something to thank God for.

That child who’s finally comfortable walking into class. The question that lets us know someone was listening. The volunteer who jumps in just when we need an extra hand. Or that little voice saying something about God that reminds us, “Oh, wow. This is why we do this.”

And here’s the thing: our kids pick up on our attitudes pretty quickly. They can tell when we’re glad to see them! A smile, a little patience, and a heartfelt “I’m so happy you’re here!” can make a big difference in a child’s morning.

That’s the ripple effect. Our gratitude helps create a place where kids feel welcomed, loved, and excited to be.

So thank you for showing up. For preparing, praying, being flexible, and loving our kids—even on the mornings when you could use another cup of coffee and maybe a nap. You may not see everything God is doing through you, but those little moments matter.

Let’s pray:
God, thank You for our kids, their families, and this team. Thank You that we get to be part of helping kids know and love You. As we jump into this new curriculum, give us patience as we learn and thankful hearts along the way. When we’re tired or things get a little crazy, help us notice the good You’re doing right in front of us. Let our kids feel Your love in the way we welcome them, listen to them, and care for them. We love You! Amen.
