Baptism

Baptism doesn’t “save” you; only receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior can do that (Romans 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-10).  Baptism is simply an outward symbol of an inner commitment you have made to follow Jesus.

Baptism illustrates…

  • Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.  1st Corinthians 15:3–4

  • Your union with the body of Christ.  1st Corinthians 12:13

  • Your new life in Christ. Romans 6:4

Christians are baptized because…

  • Christ commanded His followers to be baptized.  Matthew 28:19–20

  • Baptism demonstrates the reality of your conversion. Acts 8:12; 18:8

  • Baptism identifies you with a local church.  Acts 2:41

At BFC, we baptize by immersion (dunked under water) because…

  • The word baptize means “to dip or immerse, to plunge, or sink into.”

  • Baptism by immersion best symbolizes death, burial, and resurrection.

  • Every baptism recorded in the Bible was done by immersion.
